Title: Timeless Desire

I believe I get pulled into things far too easy but once my curiosity is aroused, there is no going back.

I pray my husband Gawain never finds out I'm doing this or not only would there be hell to pay, chances were he'd very well wish for divorce.

And I couldn't blame him. I was about to violate one of the virtues he most loved about me. A sacred, fundamental part of my character that I wouldn't be able to get back.

So many people I knew were against this, would think me a deviant of dynamic proportions but I wouldn't rest until I knew it for myself, one way or the other.

Still, my heart quailed in a spasm of uncertainty.

Taking a deep breath, I glance at my companions, plastering on what I'm sure was fake smile. I finished off my coffee and rose, knocking my bag off the small, iron hewn table we'd all been sitting at.

To my horror, most of the contents spilled right on the sidewalk and I wanted to groan when my friends noticed the thick book entitled The Ultimate Guide to Kink: BDSM, Role Play, and the Erotic Edge. Granted, some of the edges were frayed and had 'post it' notes sticking obscenely out from certain pages.

Both women gaped, first at each other, then me.

"What?" I asked grumpily, bending to retrieve everything and hurriedly shoving it all back into my purse. "For when it gets quiet. You slags know how boring things get past Santa Monica on a Sunday night. Until evil actually comes calling down there, I need to keep my mind occupied." I huffed, turning to chuck my empty cup into the waste can. "I'll see you back home, after patrol. Stay safe, sisters."

I dashed out of the Starbucks without a backward glance, knowing I'd get grilled later. Sabrina and Guinevere were more relentless than the priests during the Spanish Inquisition.

My heart was racing wildly now, out of a combination of inquisitiveness and fear. I shot up La Cienega, looking over my shoulder now and then to make sure I wasn't being followed. Crossing the street, I glanced at my watch and quickened my steps. I couldn't be late. Tonight was the night and if I didn't do it now, I wouldn't attempt it again. Not with so much risk involved.

What am I doing? By the Old Ways, I was bound to lose so much if anyone ever found out about this.

Stop stalling. You know what you have to do and the sooner you do it, the quicker it'll all be over and you can go home, shower and forget all about it if it turns out to be that bad.

I arrived at my destination, hurried up to the small glass booth where he waited, face composed with gentle eyes. No judgement here. None.

I fumbled for my money and pushed it his way.

"Fifty Shades Darker. One please."
